I’m so very excited that in just a few days, we have our first day of fall mini sessions for 2016! Thanks to this sweet cutie below, our third little sugar bear Alice, last year we weren’t able to shoot any mini sessions and we missed you all dearly! Now that Alice nears her 1st birthday next month, we’re geared up for returning to our favorite season to photograph and can’t wait to see our AKP families. Our first mini session day on Saturday, September 17 is being held at Ft. Steilacoom Park. James and I made the drive out to the park last week and took just a quick 15 minutes (less than AKP mini sessions, which last 20 minutes) to snap the shutter so you could see the terrain and surroundings for your September mini session. This was clearly a super sunny day and the sun was nearly directly overhead (it was 2:30 p.m.). Depending on the time of your session and the weather on Sept. 17, the mood and feel of your images could be different. Earlier in the day and later in the day, the sun will be lower in the sky and that creates a different feel (a gorgeous, magical light) than the bright, sunny scenes of mid-day. Rest assured we can work with any kind of sun light outside. And even if the sun is hidden by clouds and we have an overcast day, that is also beautiful (and quite “fall-ish”)! This park has lots of different corners and spots to play in. If you’re signed up for a mini this weekend, watch your inboxes for an email from us with details. Even photographers’ families sometimes have outtakes. We were multi-tasking. Families with young kids, jobs and tight schedules often need to wear multiple hats at the same time. James was on a conference call for part of the short time we were taking these photos. I loved this little golden, part-shade, part-sun spot and didn’t wait for him to finish his conversation before shooting and moving on to a different spot. So bypass the mid-sentence expression, the headphones and just appreciate the scene. 😉 Yes, Alice was gripping that pen and her water cup even way up into the trees. I promise I won’t make your children hold ballpoint pens during your session. 🙂 Bright, direct sun from above can be hard to be photographed in only because it’s so bright outside but if you’re up for it, it’s a warm way to capture this beautiful PNW fall we’re having! If you’re not up for the direct sun, the shade of these gorgeous trees below gives a little reprieve from squinting while still allowing that golden light to pour in. We don’t normally give our babies pens to play with. Like I said before, this was a quick stop and a quick shoot just to show y’all the prettiness that is Ft. Steilacoom! I wasn’t dressed for the occasion but I couldn’t pass up an opportunity to be photographed with my joyful thirdborn! Maybe this blog post should instead be titled Alice and Her Ballpoint Pen. Did you miss out on mini session sign-ups this year? Still wishing you had snagged a spot? I have one more time slot that just became available and I may be able to squeeze in one additional spot as well so message us quickly and we’ll be ready for you and your family this weekend!
